Issuing of classification deferral for permanent residents abroad
Prerequisites and required supporting documents for the issue of classification deferrals for permanent residents abroad.
Applicants must meet the following conditions : a) they must be born or have moved and began to reside permanently abroad before the 1st of January of the year of their eleventh (11th) birthday and their parents must have been residing abroad at the time of their birth or move there, b) they must have resided abroad constantly since their birth or settlement until their date of majority and have resided abroad from their age of majority to the date of deferral. c) they must have not resided for over six (6) months in Greece within the same calendar year, after January 1 of the year of their eleventh (11th) birthday. d) Especially in the case of foreign residents studying in Greece for up to twelve (12) years, they considered to reside abroad if: 1. At least one of the parties exercising parental care has resided abroad continuously during the time that the student was a minor. 2. They matriculate in the first of their arrival to Greece in the starting academic year in a school, college or educational institution that is public or recognized by the relevant government departments. 3. they retain the status of pupil or student at a public or recognized educational institution for their period of residence in Greece.
Citizens visit the KEP of their choice to apply for the issuing of classification postponements for permanent residents abroad, presenting the required documentation.
The KEP employee receives and checks the documents that are presented by the citizen. If, during check, a missing or uncomplete document is discovered, the employee informs the citizen and refrains from submitting the Application.
The employee fills in the electronic Application and creates a new folder in the KEP Information System. The citizen has the possibility, if he wishes it, to declare his mobile phone number and thus to be informed by SMS for the complemetion of the request. Finally, the employee hands to the citizen a request submission certificate in which the number of the request file is written.
The Employee of the KEP sends to the Competent Entity the file of the case (which includes both the application and the supporting documents) in one of the accepted ways (email, fax, courier, post, etc).
The employee of the KEP receives the final Document immediately from the Competent Entity and notifies the citizen (via sms or telephone) for him to come and take it.
Citizens visit the KEP and receive classification deferral certificates for permanent residents abroad.
