Issuing of initial classification deferral due to studies
Prerequisites and required supporting documents for the issuing of initial classification deferral due to studies.
Applicants must meet the following conditions : a) They must have registered to study at a High School, Evening School, Second Chance School, Vocational Training Institute, Second Degree Educational School, higher education school. b) The registration must have taken place up to the date the applicants are obliged to be classified in the Armed Forces. c) Η The minimum study duration at the educational institute must not exceed December 31st of the year on which the interested party completes his twenty first (21st) year of age in the case of student of High School or Second Chance School, the twenty fourth (24th) year of age in the case of student at a Vocational Training Institute or Second Degree Educational School or Evening School, the twenty fifth (25th) year of age in the case of studying at a high education school and the twenty eighth (28th) year of age in the case of student of higher school (for calculating the age for military purposes as the date of birth of the interested party January 1st is considered in the male registers where the applicant is registered).
Citizens visit the KEP of their choice to apply for the issuing of a classification deferral certificate due to studies, presenting the required documentation.
The KEP employee receives and checks the documents that are presented by the citizen. If, during check, a missing or uncomplete document is discovered, the employee informs the citizen and refrains from submitting the Application.
The employee fills in the electronic Application and creates a new folder in the KEP Information System. The citizen has the possibility, if he wishes it, to declare his mobile phone number and thus to be informed by SMS for the complemetion of the request. Finally, the employee hands to the citizen a request submission certificate in which the number of the request file is written.
The Employee of the KEP sends to the Competent Entity the file of the case (which includes both the application and the supporting documents) in one of the accepted ways (email, fax, courier, post, etc).
The employee of the KEP receives the final Document immediately from the Competent Entity and notifies the citizen (via sms or telephone) for him to come and take it.
Citizens visit the KEP and receive the initial classification deferral due to studies.
Notes and Clarifications
If the study certificates or attestations are issued by non state schools or institutes they must be validated by the competent state service. If the documents are in a foreign internationally known language, they are accepted only if they are certified true and accompanied by an official translation. This means an official translation provided or ratified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or by Greek Consular Authority or by a lawyer (in accordance with the provisions of Article 53 of the Lawyers Code). Certified copies of these documents may also be accepted. The supporting documents for issuing a deferral are submitted from 1st January of the year in which the interested party is at his 19th year of age up to the date on which he is obliged to be classified in the Armed Forces. If the supporting documents are submitted at a later stage, the deferral is granted provided the applicant has been classified in the Armed Forces and provided that all required conditions existed upon the date the same had to be classified, but a two (2) month additional military obligation is imposed on him.
